Serge Daney in Persian

One year after the publication of Serge Daney and the Promise of Cinema on Sabzian, our issue marking the eightieth anniversary of Serge Daney’s birth, accompanied by a ten-film programme at London’s ICA, Kokermag, an Iranian film magazine, publishes a Persian-language dossier devoted to Daney, compiled by Arta Barzanji. Bringing together two texts from the original Sabzian issue, alongside a new Persian translation of Daney’s seminal essay ‘Cinemeteorology’ on Too Early, Too Late by Danièle Huillet and Jean-Marie Straub, the dossier introduces Persian-speaking readers to a critic for whom cinema was not simply an art form, but a way of thinking about history, politics, images, and the world.
