Cinémathèque française Retrospectives

On August 28, the Cinémathèque française reopens after its summer break. In the coming three months, they present an extraordinary season of successive or coinciding retrospectives of the work of Nicholas Ray (29/8 – 28/9), Philippe Garrel (18/9 – 20/10), Kira Mouratova (25/9 – 20/10), Guy Debord (19–20/10) and Robert Kramer (6-24/11), among others. Tickets are already on sale for all the screenings.

For Sabzian’s State of Cinema 2019, filmmaker Claudio Pazienza chose to screen Kira Muratova’s The Long Farewell (1971), and read and wrote a beautiful statement, “Echoes of an Intimate Language” (EN/FR/NL). On this occasion, Sabzian also translated a conversation with Muratova (EN/NL).

On November 14, coinciding with the Cinémathèque française retrospective, Sabzian will screen Robert Kramer and John Douglas’ Milestones (1975) at the Beursschouwburg in Brussels.
