CINEMATEK at KANAL: Chantal Akerman

CINEMATEK has been invited to curate the fifth floor (SR5) of KANAL-Centre Pompidou in Brussels. Beginning September 12, CINEMATEK’s intervention will be twofold. Films by Chantal Akerman, and later on Dora García, Carlos Casas and Wang Bing will be shown in a continuous digital program. One monthly event, labelled SWEET 16, will pay tribute to the format of 16mm film.

The work of Chantal Akerman was an obvious choice for CINEMATEK to kick off this new program given their ongoing mission with the Chantal Akerman Foundation. From September 12 until October 8, two of Akerman’s films will alternate: the recent digital restoration by CINEMATEK of Je tu il elle and the documentary D’Est.
