Special Screening of Magnum Begynasium Bruxellense (Boris Lehman, 1978)

The magnificent Magnum Begynasium Bruxellense (1978) by Boris Lehman will be screened in the Grand Hospice Pacheco (rue du Grand Hospice, 1000 Bruxelles) on February 5 at 15h00.

Pending the major renovation needed to create a complex of housing units and community services, the Brussels CPAS has decided to make Hospice Pacheco available for local projects. One of the temporary residents is the Club Antonin Artaud vzw, founded in 1962 by a group of patients who wanted an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization. Boris Lehman organised a filmworkshop with the Club for many years, creating surrealist gems.

Filmed more than 40 years ago, Magnum Begynasium Bruxellense is a lively chronicle of residents of the Béguinage quarter. It was made in collaboration with the patients of the Antonin Artaud Club and the inhabitants of the Béguinage district.
