Boris Lehman x Club Antonin Artaud
In the presence of Boris Lehman
Museum Dr. Guislain welcomes the Belgian filmmaker Boris Lehman for a two-part program centered on the Club Antonin Artaud.
In the turbulent context of the anti-psychiatric movements, the Club Antonin Artaud emerged in Brussels, founded in 1962 by former psychiatric patients and some of their therapists. In this avant-garde space, conceived as a center for social and cultural reintegration, Boris Lehman ran a film workshop from 1965, the first of its kind. Over the course of about twenty years, some one hundred films were made there: individual and collective documentaries, fiction films, and experimental works. These are not therapeutic films, but rather explorations in the spirit of art brut.
