Film-Plateau opens its Sport and Stamina semester with a vibrant bouquet of short films, ranging from the boxing ring of Combat de boxe (Charles Dekeukeleire) to the diving board of Taris, roi de l’eau (Jean Vigo). The programme moves between silent film, sound material, factual reportage, Het Kampioenschap van Vlaanderen te Koolskamp (1932) by Clemens De Landtsheer, and Robbe De Hert’s politically charged Dood van een Sandwichman, before concluding with three striking sports-science research films from the 1970s, donated to the Boekentoren by UGent-HILO in 2024.
Live music by KASK & Conservatorium students Noah Jordens (piano), Toon Putteman (drums), and Werend Van Den Bossche (saxophone), with an introduction by Daniel Biltereyst, Gertjan Willems, and Steven Jacobs.
