Le Ceneri di Pasolini – The Ashes of Pasolini

Pasolini Today & Tomorrow

From October to December 2025, students and teachers from RITCS, ESACT, LA CAMBRE and ULB will work and experiment closely together, inspired by the work and ideas of the Italian poet, filmmaker, novelist, and playwright Pier Paolo Pasolini (1922–1975). Lectures, seminars and screenings in Brussels and Liège revisit the legacy of one of the twentieth century’s most visionary and controversial figures.

In Brussels, the programme opens at Cinema RITCS with La ricotta (1963) and Sopralluoghi in Palestina (1965), introduced by filmmaker Gust Van den Berghe (22 September). On 23 September at Cinema RITCS, the public programme features the presentation of WHO IS ME: Dichter van de as, Sabzian’s Dutch edition of Pasolini’s unfinished autobiographical text Poeta delle ceneri, translated by Piet Joostens, who will introduce the book. The evening starts with Agnès Varda’s Pier Paolo Pasolini (1967) and a subsequent screening of Pasolini’s Teorema (1968). The Brussels programme continues with screenings of Il Vangelo secondo Matteo (1964) on 24 September and Mamma Roma (1962) on 25 September, introduced by actress Eva Zingaro-Meyer.

In Liège, the programme includes screenings at Cinéma Churchill and Cinéma Sauvenière, alongside seminars on Gramsci led by Eric Corijn and Jean-Claude Zancarini. Highlights include Pasolini’s Uccellacci e uccellini (1966) and the Belgian feature Charbon (2025) by Manu Riche and Edoardo Ripani.
