Jean-Luc Godard: Unmade and Abandoned at L’Alliance New York

From September 15 to October 15, L’Alliance New York presents Jean-Luc Godard: Unmade and Abandoned, a film series programmed by Michael Witt and previously presented at the ICA in London, exploring the unrealized projects and ideas that shaped Godard’s cinema. Across eight programmes, the series brings together Godard’s films with works by Renoir, Astruc, Allio, and others. Highlights include Godard’s earliest short 16mm fiction film, Une femme coquette (d’après Maupassant) (1956); Je vous salue, Sarajevo (1993); a special 35mm projection of The Wild Palms: Made in USA and Two or Three Things I Know About Her, presented as a single work; and Michael Witt’s digital reconstruction of a remarkable montage film created by Godard at the 1981 Rotterdam Film Festival from his film Sauve qui peut (la vie).
