This film by Julia Zakia looks back on the microcosmic world of a bustling hat factory that has closed its doors after many years of operation.
“Planet Factory regards a beautiful and singular hundred years hat factory that was completely closed last year and now will be demolished in a few months. It’s about hatters who worked there for more than 60 years, such as my grandfather. It’s also about the changes time imposes, the impossibility of retaining things and people. This hat factory planet is over, but new inhabitants come to life through the film: rabbits, ghost hats, voices of old workers. Poetry instead of mourning. An old planet is being extinguished but a new one is being hatched.”
