Close-Up on Peter Watkins

Following the complete retrospective and the events the Berlin cinema Wolf dedicated to the work of Peter Watkins in June, the London based Close-Up Film Centre is running a selection of his most well known films in September. The filmmaker himself will be present to introduce the rarely screened theatrical cut of his masterpiece, La commune. In addition, Close-Up republished the media statement Peter Watkins wrote earlier this year.

The book Wolf Kino published in June, Future Revolutions: New Perspectives on Peter Watkins, is still for sale.

Monoforme

J’ai découvert le concept de Monoforme en 2003, dans une déclaration en ligne de Peter Watkins. À peu près à la même époque, j’ai vu son film sur la paix mondiale, The Journey (1987) qui constitue, selon moi, sa critique la plus claire de la Monoforme, une critique par l’exemple. Depuis, la remise en question de la Monoforme de Watkins, ainsi que ses propositions pour une réforme des mass media sont devenues pour moi un point de repère constant.
